The Commander of Narcotics, Iliyasu Mani, disclosed that fermented human urine, preserved for over 10 days, has become a disturbing choice among the youth in the state.

Mani revealed that substance abuse is prevalent, with youths also experimenting with substances like lizard dung, camel urine, Lipton soaked in gin, and mentholated spirits mixed with soft drinks. Additionally, they engage in inhaling toilet fumes and consuming gutter dirt in their pursuit of intoxication.

The NDLEA Commander highlighted a list of substances commonly abused, including Cannabis Sativa, skunk, cough syrup with codeine, Ice, Tramadol, Rohypnol, Diazepam, Pentazocine, rubber solution, glue, gutter dirt, toilet fumes, lizard dung, Lipton soaked in gin, camel urine, mentholated spirit in soft drinks, and 10-day-old human urine.

Despite the agency’s efforts to combat drug abuse, Commander Mani expressed the increasing challenges, especially involving young teens, particularly women, in the abuse of new psychoactive substances.

He emphasized the commitment of the NDLEA in implementing preventive strategies, including establishing a remodeled counseling/rehab center within the Borno State Command premises and drop-in centers across tertiary institutions for research and support.
