Fugitive extradited to the US after faking his death to avoid sexual assault charges

In the wake of extensive sexual assault allegations, American fugitive Nicholas Rossi, 36, has been extradited from Scotland to the United States after a protracted legal battle.

Scottish ministers granted permission for Rossi’s extradition in September of the preceding year, culminating in a resolution to a prolonged legal dispute in Scottish courts.

Despite Rossi’s insistence that he was an Irish orphan named Arthur Knight, an investigation by a police officer confirmed his true identity as Nicholas Rossi.

The appeal against extradition was dismissed in December, clearing the way for the extradition process.

Police Scotland provided assistance in the extradition of the 36-year-old man, as stated by a spokesperson on Friday, December 5.

Nicholas Rossi is wanted in the US on charges of allegedly raping a woman in Utah in 2008, in addition to facing multiple domestic abuse charges.

His interactions with the authorities began when he was admitted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with Covid-19 in December 2021.

During his hospital stay that same month, Rossi received an Interpol red notice and a National Crime Agency certificate, the latter of which he claims never to have received.
