ISWAP cut off Borno fishermen's hands over alleged theft

According to reports, members of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) have amputated the hands of two Borno fishermen in Marte Local Government Area.

The incident occurred on January 10 after the fishermen were accused of theft for allegedly taking back two cartons of fish abandoned by ISWAP due to space constraints.

Sources revealed that the fishermen, part of a larger group engaged in fishing activities under ISWAP control, usually face levies and taxes imposed by the terrorist group.

The recent chopping off of hands was allegedly ordered by the ISWAP leader, citing Sharia law as justification.
