Two arrested for beating man to death over claims he stole car parts

The Lagos State Police Command apprehended two individuals, Yusuf Ahmed, 22, and Olayinka Sanusi, 34, in connection with the alleged fatal beating of Sharafadeen Atanda in the Surulere area on Thursday, January 4.

The incident reportedly stemmed from accusations that Atanda had stolen two car doors.

The Iponri Police Division received a distress call from the deceased’s wife, who was informed that her husband was being assaulted by individuals accusing him of theft.

Upon reaching the scene, she discovered her husband in a critical condition, surrounded by a pool of blood.

She asserted that the same assailants who attacked him had transported him in a tricycle (Keke NAPEP), and she later learned that Atanda succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to the hospital.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at Iponri facilitated the arrest of the two suspects and recovered the deceased’s body, which had been abandoned in a Keke NAPEP.

The body has been deposited at the Mainland Hospital Morgue, and an ongoing investigation is being conducted into the matter.
