The State House Management in Aso Rock Villa has commenced the refurbishment and renovation of parts of the Presidential Villa, Abuja in preparation for the inauguration of Bola Tinubu as the President on May 29.
This move has been observed as a routine upgrade to the Presidential Villa by the Presidential Transition Council. The perimeter fence around the President’s office, official residence, Council Chamber, press gallery, and administrative offices have been overlaid with new white and green paints. In addition, new furniture has been delivered to the green room adjoining the Council Chamber.
The Nigerian government allocated N148,168,464,339 in the 2023 Appropriation Act to the Presidency, out of which over N14 billion was earmarked for the State House Headquarters. As a result, minor repairs will be carried out on some parts of the house, while the entire residence will be cleaned and repainted with white paint.

Tinubu, like his predecessors, is expected to have input in the furniture installed in his official residence and office, as well as the paint colors used. However, the refurbishment is expected to be completed in time for the new President’s inauguration.
This is not the first time that the Presidential Villa has undergone renovations and refurbishments with huge amounts. Former President Goodluck Jonathan relocated to the Glass House in Aso Presidential Villa to allow for its renovation before Buhari’s swearing-in.
