Messi’s $400m move to Saudi Arabia reportedly being negotiated

Saudi Arabia has reportedly offered a $400 million annual contract to Argentine football star Lionel Messi to play in the country’s Pro League.

Negotiated by Messi’s father, the deal exceeds the $200 million contract signed by Cristiano Ronaldo to play in Saudi Arabia until 2025.

The move comes as Messi was suspended for two weeks by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for travelling to Saudi Arabia without permission from the club.

Prior to the disciplinary action, Messi had agreed in principle to remain with PSG but now he will not renew his contract.

Saudi Arabia has been making efforts to disrupt the world of professional sports, including financing the LIV Golf League and purchasing Premier League club Newcastle United.
