Ibadan mob takes justice into own hands, burns suspected armed robbers

A group of people have killed and burned two suspected armed robbers at the Osupa bridge, Moniya, on the new Ibadan/Oyo Expressway in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The suspects were unlucky after robbing a trader of his valuables on the bridge on Tuesday. The suspects threw the victim out of the vehicle, which prompted motorcyclists to trail them due to their suspicious behavior.

When the motorcyclists raised the alarm about the incident, residents and passersby were alerted and the mob descended on the suspects. They beat them and later set them ablaze.

Kunle Babayemi, an eyewitness, said that the armed robbers had already taken the trader’s money but the motorcyclists behind them noticed that they were arguing in the car. The suspects were three in number, with a lady among them who managed to escape. She jumped out of the car and fled through the bush when she realized that people were after them.

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, were unsuccessful as his mobile number was unreachable.
