Father of seven stabbed to death in Lagos

A 53-year-old man, Olalekan Okeowo, was killed in the early hours of Sunday in an uncompleted building in the Salvation Estate, Owode community, Ajah area of Lagos State. The victim, who was a father of seven, including a set of seven-month-old twins, had returned home from work on Saturday night and went to bed after eating his meal.

However, around 1 a.m., a yet-to-be-identified assailant gained entry into the building and killed him while he was asleep. Okeowo’s wife, Titilayo, who was nursing their twins, heard her husband begging for his life before he was killed. She rushed out of the room with her son to find her husband lying in a pool of blood.

Titilayo revealed that her late husband had been preparing to secure another apartment because they were given two weeks to vacate the uncompleted building.

The owner of the building had called to inform them that he was ready to sell the property, and her husband had asked for some money to secure a new apartment before he could vacate the premises. The man had promised to send the money but had not done so before Okeowo was killed.

The victim’s corpse has been deposited in the mortuary, and the community members have been thrown into mourning as they wonder who could be responsible for the gruesome act.
