Serena Williams and Karlie Kloss reveal pregnancies at Met Gala

Several celebrity expectant mothers proudly displayed their baby bumps at the glitzy Met Gala this year. The event was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and had a dress code of “In honour of Karl” in tribute to late Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld. Among the most memorable moments of the night were tennis star Serena Williams and model Karlie Kloss announcing their pregnancies as they walked the cream, red and blue carpet.

Williams, who wore a black mermaid gown with silver edging designed by Gucci and multiple strings of pearls around her neck, was accompanied by her husband Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit, who was seen gently resting his hand on her midsection. This would be their second child.

Kloss, on the other hand, revealed that she is expecting her second child with businessman husband Joshua Kushner. Kloss wore a black gown with Lagerfeld’s signature strings of pearls, designed by Northern Irish fashion designer Jonathan Anderson, that had a trompe-l’oeil design, giving a modern, surrealist edge to the ensemble.

Her dress had long sleeves and a tight silhouette to show off her growing bump. The model expressed her excitement at being on a red carpet while pregnant, saying that it was a special and vulnerable moment for her.
