Kidnappers in Nasarawa state demand N12.6 million ransom for 12 farmers

Gunmen have kidnapped twelve farmers in Ugya village, Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, demanding a ransom of N12.6 million. According to a resident of the village, Saidu Yahaya, the victims were kidnapped last Thursday when the gunmen rounded them up at a farm where they were loading charcoal onto a pickup van. Yahaya disclosed that the kidnappers are demanding N12.6 million as ransom.

The victims’ families are still pleading with the kidnappers to reduce the amount. The incident has been reported to the authorities of the local government and security agents in the area, and the local government authorities have deployed vigilantes into the forest to trace the kidnappers’ camp and rescue the victims.

The chairman of the council, Alhaji Abdullahi Tashas, did not respond to calls made to him on the incident. The Nasarawa State Police Command has not released an official statement on the abduction.
