Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has suspended Lionel Messi for two weeks due to his unapproved trip to Saudi Arabia, citing a “serious mistake.” The decision was made on Tuesday evening, following the violation of an employee’s breach or absence without authorization, and no additional comments will be made from the club.

As a result, Messi will miss the next two games of PSG, including the match against Troyes on Sunday and Ajaccio on May 13. PSG, currently sitting at the top of Ligue 1, is five points clear of its nearest competitors. Although there is an option to extend Messi’s contract with PSG this summer, his suspension, which comes late in the season, may not help in negotiations. Potential destinations for the Argentinian include Saudi Arabia, as well as a possible return to FC Barcelona.
