Grange School has won the 6th edition of the Zenith Bank Secondary Schools Swimming Gala for the second year in a row. The competition, hosted by Ikoyi Club Swimming section, featured 11 schools and 119 swimmers in male and female categories. Grange School secured 28 medals (16 Gold), while the second position was taken by CIS with 23 medals (7 Gold), and BIS took the third position with 12 medals (2 Gold).
Zenith Bank CEO, Ebenezer Onyeagwu, praised the schools and swimmers and said that the competition demonstrated the future of sports in Nigeria is assured. He added that the bank’s involvement in grassroots sports development was aimed at giving back to society and supporting children who could become future stars.
The primary schools final is scheduled to take place on May 6th. Akinbulejo Onabolu, a member of the planning committee for the competition, expressed satisfaction with the preparation of the schools and swimmers and looked forward to the possibility of future Olympians emerging from the competition.
