Chris Brown, the American R&B superstar, has stated that he listens to Nigerian afrobeats music when he is not playing his own songs. In a recent episode of the Million Dollarz Worth Of Game podcast, the ‘New Flame’ crooner commended the genre for all the global acclaim it has been receiving, adding that he has been listening to afrobeats for some time.

Brown has collaborated with several Nigerian afrobeats artists such as Wizkid, Davido, Rema, Fireboy, and Lojay. He revealed that he and Wizkid have a song in the afrobeats genre on his album, Breezy. Brown also won the Best International Act at the 2022 Headies Awards, a Nigerian music award show. With the rising popularity of afrobeats music, Brown’s endorsement of the genre is expected to boost its global recognition even further.
