Top financial institution, Wema bank, known for its innovative banking solutions and as Africa’s first fully digital bank, is preparing to celebrate its 78th anniversary and 6th anniversary as a digital bank with a week-long series of exciting events and competitions beginning on May 1st, 2023.
The celebration will include a virtual launch of the ALAT Alumni platform for former clients to reconnect, and the bank will release a cascade of ALAT balloons into the sky. Participants can take pictures of the balloons and post them on social media with specific hashtags to win prizes.

The highlight of the celebration is the “Sounds of ALAT” competition, which aims to discover talented musicians in the entertainment industry and offer them a platform to showcase their creativity. The winning entry will become ALAT’s official theme song, and the winners will receive cash rewards of up to five million Naira.
Additionally, Wema Bank is organizing a balloon hunt for its customers, challenging them to find balloons spelling out “Wema” and “ALAT” in different locations and share photos on social media using a specific hashtag to win more prizes.
The bank will also launch an upgraded version of the ALAT for Business platform during the festivities, which will revolutionize the way business owners manage their transactions.
Mabel Adeteye, Head of Brand and Marketing Communication Department, expressed her excitement about the upcoming anniversary and the events. She added that the bank would dedicate the week to digital services and offer customers the opportunity to experience the convenience of ALAT’s digital banking solutions.
