The Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike, and his Oyo state counterpart, Seyi Makinde, paid a surprise visit to President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Abuja. The two governors stated that they came to pay homage to him and offer their support as he prepares to take on the responsibility of leading Nigeria.
They urged Nigerians to support Tinubu as he takes office and pledged their cooperation to help him succeed in improving the country’s fortunes. Wike emphasized the need for everyone to put aside political differences and work together towards a common goal.
The visit comes after a highly divisive election and marks an effort by the governors to demonstrate their willingness to work with the President-elect despite any previous political differences. However, the absence of other members of the G-5 governors was not commented on.
