L.A.X, a Nigerian musician, has shared that his father, a billionaire, played a crucial role in modifying his contract with Wizkid’s Starboy record label. The singer disclosed this on a recent episode of the Echo Room audiovisual podcast, hosted by Quincy Jonze. According to him, he had a partnership deal with Starboy Record, rather than a recording agreement.
L.A.X explained that his father funded his music projects, and Wizkid, his label boss, directed the funds to the appropriate marketing channels. When L.A.X approached his father with Wizkid’s contract, he was reluctant to sign as he believed that signing a contract meant losing control of his life. L.A.X convinced his father to allow them to form a partnership, and they agreed to do so.
