L.A.X, a Nigerian musician, has shared that his father, a billionaire, played a crucial role in modifying his contract with Wizkid’s Starboy record label. The singer disclosed this on a recent episode of the Echo Room audiovisual podcast, hosted by Quincy Jonze. According to him, he had a partnership deal with Starboy Record, rather than a recording agreement.
L.A.X explained that his father funded his music projects, and Wizkid, his label boss, directed the funds to the appropriate marketing channels. When L.A.X approached his father with Wizkid’s contract, he was reluctant to sign as he believed that signing a contract meant losing control of his life. L.A.X convinced his father to allow them to form a partnership, and they agreed to do so.
He said that his father was always giving him money, and Wizkid was using it to promote his music. However, he revealed that it was Toyin Lawani who introduced him to Wizkid by playing his songs for him. L.A.X emphasized that finance is important in the music industry, and Wizkid was spending money to promote his music. The singer recently released a new album titled “Zaza Vibes 2.”
