Kunle Remi has addressed his exclusion from the nominations for the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA). Although Anikulapo, the 2022 movie in which he starred, received the highest number of nominations in 15 categories with 16 nominations, Kunle Remi was not among the nominees.
During an interview on the TV programme ‘Your View,’ the Anikulapo star said that the snub had no effect on his worth, fame, or energy. He said: “Nomination, well, I fell into the category of non-nominated artistes. It doesn’t reduce my value, fame and energy.”

Remi also stated that he was unshaken by the snub because his role as “Saro” was not based on receiving an award, but rather a challenge. He debunked rumours that he was snubbed because of an interview in which he claimed that a senior colleague had attempted to entice him into homosexuality.
Kunle Afolayan’s 2022 film, Anikulapo, received the highest number of nominations for the AMVCA 2023. However, the fact that Remi was not nominated has sparked a debate among fans and industry insiders.
