Kelechi Iheanacho out weeks due to injury

Kelechi Iheanacho, the Super Eagles striker, sustained an injury during Leicester’s match against Leeds United and is expected to miss several weeks.

Iheanacho was seen limping after working hard to set up James Maddison’s assist for Jamie Vardy’s goal against the opposing goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

A torn muscle was revealed following a scan, and the Nigerian striker is unlikely to recover in time for the season finale against West Ham in May, though his boss, Dean Smith, refused to rule out the possibility of him featuring in the remaining matches.

Iheanacho has been performing well lately, having scored two goals in two games and put on a good performance against Manchester City and Wolves.

Leicester City’s official website quoted Smith as saying that while it is a blow to lose Iheanacho, it presents an opportunity for others to step up. Leicester could increase their lead over Sean Dyche’s team by winning their game against Everton on Monday at the King Power Stadium.
