The Police Force has refunded N68,000 extorted from Joy Ivie Aghama, a female tricycle rider in Lagos State, by some police personnel attached to the Area N Division at Ijede Area Council. The police are also responsible for her tricycle repair and medical bills. The culprits involved in the incident are currently facing disciplinary action within the force.
The incident happened after some police personnel demanded money from Aghama and her friend, Mofoluwaso Hannah Fowokan, who were riding the tricycle. They refused to give a bribe of N100, leading to police brutality and assault. The incident took place at a place called Mahmud in the Ijede part of Ikorodu.

Aghama narrated her ordeal in a video shared by the Take It Back Movement on its Twitter handle. She stated that the police delayed her and her friend for several hours, broke her windscreen, and peeled her skin, causing injuries all over her body.
The swift intervention from Nigerians and the immediate response from the @PoliceNG_CRU are appreciated by the #TakeItBackMovement. The refund of the illegally extorted money, medical treatment, and tricycle repair is a positive step towards justice for Aghama.
