The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal heard objections from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, now the President-elect, Bola Tinubu. The Labour Party candidate, who was contesting the election result, criticised the electoral body for its bias.
He pointed out that both the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal had previously urged INEC to remain neutral and impartial, noting that it was an embarrassment when INEC raised a preliminary objection against an election petition.

The Labour Party’s candidate also called on the electoral body to remain neutral in all litigation relating to election results and avoid lodging objections to petitions. He deemed INEC’s preliminary objection against his petition against Tinubu’s victory as ill-conceived.
