A man named Ismaila Ojo has been sentenced to death by hanging by the Ado Ekiti Division of the Ekiti State High Court for killing a man named Kareem Adu over a motorcycle on May 13, 2018.
The defendant was charged and found guilty of murder. The presiding judge, Justice Olusegun Ogunyemi, stated that he found the defendant guilty after considering the evidence presented before the court, and that the defendant caused the death of the deceased by holding and pressing his neck and throat. The defendant was sentenced to be hanged on the neck until death.

According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Tunde Arowosola, the deceased’s wife, Agnes Adu, reported to the station that her husband had been killed at Odo-Uro by Ismaila Ojo over a dispute and tussle regarding ownership of a motorcycle.
Inspector Lasisi Bashiru, a police officer who testified before the court, stated that the defendant confessed to the crime of strangulating the deceased after he came to take his motorcycle which was parked in front of the defendant’s house.
The defendant claimed that he did not intend or cause the death of the deceased, and that they only fought without using any weapon or hard object.
