Gunmen kidnap National Population Commission official, demand N500m ransom

Mrs. Gloria Izonfuo, the Federal Commissioner representing Bayelsa State at the National Population Commission, has been kidnapped by gunmen while traveling from Bayelsa to Port Harcourt. The incident occurred on Sunday evening at the Ogbakiri junction along the East-West Road in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Mrs. Izonfuo was reportedly abducted alongside her driver and maid at gunpoint. The kidnappers have demanded N500 million as ransom for their release. The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the incident and assured the public that the Commissioner of Police has ordered the command’s tactical teams to rescue the victims.
