US sends military forces to East Africa in preparation for evacuating citizens from war-torn Sudan

The deployment of additional US forces to Djibouti is aimed at ensuring the security and safety of US citizens in Sudan in case an evacuation becomes necessary.

The situation in Sudan has been volatile, with clashes between the Sudanese Army and the paramilitary force escalating and resulting in the deaths of more than 330 people.

The US Department of Defense, through US Africa Command, is closely monitoring the situation and conducting planning for various contingencies, including the evacuation of US embassy personnel and citizens from Sudan.

John Kirby, the National Security Council’s coordinator for strategic communications, has urged both sides to end the violence and allow humanitarian aid to be distributed to address food and medicine shortages.
