A man has been arrested by the Kaduna State Police Command for allegedly using a machete to hack his girlfriend to death. The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Muhammad Jalige, confirmed the suspect’s arrest in a statement on Friday.
According to Jalige, on April 14 at around 9:30 pm, the command received a distress call reporting a mob action near NEPA Roundabout in the Kaduna metropolis.
Upon arrival at the scene, operatives found a man lying unconscious and surrounded by a crowd. The suspect was accused of killing his girlfriend for allegedly planning to end their relationship.
The suspect reportedly attacked the deceased at Old Command Secondary and Nursery School on Sokoto Road, causing injuries to her face, arms, and hands, resulting in the hand being severed. The suspect claimed to have invested a lot of resources in the relationship, and the victim’s decision to leave him for another man was unacceptable.
The victim was rushed to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital for treatment, but a doctor on duty confirmed that she was dead. The victim’s corpse was deposited at the same hospital for an autopsy, according to the police spokesman.
