President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine has congratulated Nigeria’s President-elect, Bola Tinubu, on his election victory and invited him on a state visit to Ukraine. Zelensky praised Tinubu over his victory, acknowledging the difficult times caused by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, and expressed his country’s determination to further strengthen cooperation with Nigeria.
The Ukrainian leader also highlighted Nigeria’s support for the United Nations Resolution on the Principles of the UN Charter for a just and sustainable peace in Ukraine and urged Nigeria’s active participation in its implementation.

He also emphasized the importance of global food security and the successful implementation of the Ukrainian initiative “Grain from Ukraine” to increase the supply of grain to African countries to prevent famine.
In his letter, Zelensky invited Tinubu to visit Ukraine and expressed confidence that his visit would strengthen the dialogue between the two countries and contribute to the joint efforts of the international community in solving urgent challenges, particularly the crisis situation caused by Russia regarding the guarantee of world food security.
