The All Progressive Congress (APC) has won in four supplementary elections conducted for the Kaduna State House of Assembly, giving them 22 out of a total 34 seats. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has 12 elected members.
Malam Yahaya Baba Pate, the Kaduna State Secretary of the APC, released a statement thanking voters in Giwa West, Kudan, Kauru and Sanga state constituencies for their support.
He also commended them for their resolve in the face of intimidation and monetary inducement. Pate promised that APC members would resume office in May and that the residents of Kaduna State would experience the dividends of democracy.
He also noted that the electorates had voted for the party in a local government where the gubernatorial candidates of PDP and NNPP hail from. The PDP has yet to release a statement regarding the results of the supplementary elections.
