Rivers State University, Nkpolu-Oroworokwo, Port Harcourt, matriculated 8,441 students who fulfilled the minimum requirements for admission into the institution’s various programs, with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Nlerum Okogbule, warning the new students against indecent dressing, examination malpractices, and anti-social activities.
Okogbule also congratulated the students for their success in the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board Examination and the Post UTME screening test, adding that hard work and unwavering focus on academic assignments are crucial to succeeding in the institution.

In his speech, he also disclosed the breakdown of the students admitted into the various faculties, with the College of Medical Sciences having 502, Agriculture having 345, Communication and Media Studies having 666, Education having 466, Engineering having 1,611, Environmental Sciences having 352, Humanities having 773, Law having 250, Management Sciences having 891, Science having 1,737, and Social Sciences having 848 students.
