Ohanaeze Ndigbo urges Nigerian government to release Kanu and provide medical access as his life is at risk

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, has called on the Nigerian government to provide quality medical services to Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and to release him unconditionally in compliance with the court’s order.

The organization expressed dissatisfaction with Kanu’s continued detention by the Department of State Security (DSS) and raised concerns about the Nigerian government’s disobedience to court orders on his release and freedom. In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Chika Adiele, the organization called on the Nigerian government to address Kanu’s deteriorating health condition by allowing him to receive urgent medical treatment.

Adiele said that Kanu’s life was at risk if he was not given urgent access to effective medical attention. The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing Worldwide also released a statement calling for Kanu’s release and condemning the injustice meted out to him, especially regarding his health and the government’s refusal to obey court orders.

The group emphasized that Kanu’s health is essential to the unity and stability of Nigeria and urged the government to grant him necessary medical attention and release him unconditionally in compliance with the rule of law.
