Binalayefa Joshua Osuluku has been selected as the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for the Bayelsa State governorship election in November, after receiving 151 votes in the delegate election held in the state capital, Yenagoa, on Monday. His opponent, Mrs Ebinabo Rebecca Doibo, received 111 votes.

The chairman of the electoral committee, Mohammed Ibrahim, praised the peaceful nature of the exercise and stated that the winner would have the full support of the party.
Osuluku stated that he would work towards social justice and ensure youths were gainfully employed in positions of leadership in the state. Meanwhile, Doibo promised to work with the SDP candidate and restore hope and prosperity to Bayelsa State.
