Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the Kogi State governorship election, has claimed that he used anointing oil to mobilize his delegates. Responding to allegations of financial inducement during the primary election, Melaye denied manipulating the exercise and attributed his success to God.
He stated that he could not comment on whether money was shared as he was not an employee of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) or the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Crimes Commission (ICPC). Melaye said that if he could not finance a primary election at his level, then there was a problem.
He claimed that God bankrolled him and cited Philippians 4:19, which states that God will supply all of his needs. Melaye stated that he gave his delegates anointing oil, which he believed had a magical effect.
