The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has announced that 107 Nigerians who were stranded in Libya have been evacuated and returned to the country. They arrived at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport via Al Buraq Air Boeing 737-800, and were received by NEMA’s Chief Relief and Rehabilitation Officer.

The returnees included two infants and eight children, and their repatriation follows a series of efforts by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and other partners to assist Nigerians stranded in Libya since 2017. In March and April 2023, a total of 281 and 259 Nigerians, respectively, were assisted in returning to the country.
