Ahmad Lawan expresses concern over turnover rate, calls for capacity building for 10th NASS members

The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, emphasized the need for capacity building of members of the 10th National Assembly to ensure effective service delivery during a ceremony where he received the 2020-2022 annual reports of the National Assembly Service Commission in Abuja.

Mr Lawan expressed concern over the turnover rate of members between the 9th and 10th National Assembly, stating that it results in loss of capacity, experience, skills, and enterprise.

He called for immediate provisions for capacity building for new members of the National Assembly to achieve their goals and set targets, highlighting the unique nature of the parliamentary work compared to the executive.

Mr Lawan also highlighted the need for resources to support the capacity building of senators-elect and staff of the National Assembly, emphasizing their readiness to start work as soon as they are inaugurated and sworn in.
