Terrorists demand more ransoms from 85 Zamfara residents for lost motorcycles after clash with Nigerian military

Terrorists who recently kidnapped 85 individuals from Wanzamai village in Zamfara State are demanding an additional N850,000 from the community to buy two motorcycles, after already collecting N1.7 million as ransom. The victims, including women and children, were abducted while fetching firewood in the bush early in the morning.

The abductors initially demanded N20,000 from each victim, totaling N1.7 million. However, according to a resident named Haruna Sani, the bandits have now sent another message asking for an additional N850,000 to replace their two motorcycles that were destroyed during a clash with military personnel.

Sani explained that the bandits directed each family of the kidnapped victims to pay an extra N10,000, resulting in a total of N850,000. He also mentioned that the residents of Wanzamai village held a peaceful protest to express their dissatisfaction with the alleged plan to transfer the commander of the military personnel stationed in the area to combat banditry.

Despite the pressure from the bandits, the state government has vowed not to withdraw the military personnel from Wanzamai village and will not be intimidated into changing its security arrangements, as stated by Mamman Tsafe, the Commissioner for Security and Internal Affairs in the state.
