Sudan's military cautions against escalation as paramilitary force deploys, citing concerns over tensions

Sudan’s military has issued a warning of potential clashes with the country’s powerful paramilitary force, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), due to their deployment of troops in the capital and other cities without approval or coordination with the Armed Forces’ leadership. In a statement, the military expressed concern over the RSF’s actions, citing increased tensions between regular forces, security risks, and panic among the public.

The RSF has reportedly attempted to establish a military base in the northern province on the border with Egypt. The opposition between General Al Burhan, the Chairman of the Sudanese ruling junta, and his deputy, who leads the RSF, Gen. Dagalo, has caused a standstill in the transition to civilian rule. Efforts have been made to find peaceful solutions to prevent an armed conflict with the RSF.
