Operatives of Dragon 18 & 29 arrested a 24-year-old passenger, Joseph Vincent, during a routine stop-and-search duty in Delta State, Nigeria. Two locally fabricated pistols were recovered from him as he attempted to escape after jumping down from a tricycle being driven by one Isreal Sibito.
The incident occurred along Jeremi/Iwhrekan road in Ughelli South Local Government Area. Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the report in a statement, emphasizing that investigation is ongoing.
DSP Edafe also urged the public to exercise patience during police stop-and-search operations, as they are conducted for the collective good and to ensure a safer Delta for all. He further provided phone lines for the public to quickly reach the command for any complaints or distress situations: 08036684974, 08125958005, and 09053872287.
The arrest of the suspect and recovery of illegal firearms by Dragon 18 & 29 highlights the vigilance of the police in combating crime in the state. The use of locally fabricated pistols raises concerns about the proliferation of illegal arms and the need for concerted efforts to curb their circulation.
