Three of the victims managed to escape and contacted their parents after regaining consciousness, but the whereabouts of the fourth victim remained unknown. Adebisi claimed during interrogation that the girls willingly agreed to go to Libya to work, and that his brother in Tripoli had instructed him to find girls and send them to Kano, from where they would be taken to Libya.

The police assured of a thorough investigation and stated that the suspect would be charged to court in due course.
