Bola Ajibola, former International Court of Justice judge, passes away

The former judge of the International Court of Justice in Hague, Netherlands, Bola Ajibola, has passed away at the age of 89. This sad news was confirmed in a statement signed by his eldest son, Segun Ajibola, in Abeokuta on Sunday. Mr Ajibola, who was also a former Attorney-General of Nigeria, succumbed to an illness associated with old age.

He served as the president of the Nigerian Bar Association from 1984 to 1985 and was one of five commissioners on the Eritrea-Ethiopia Boundary Commission. He also served as the High Commissioner of Nigeria to the United Kingdom from 1999 to 2002. Bola Ajibola was known for his contributions to education, having founded the Crescent University, Abeokuta, and an Islamic organization called Islamic Movement for Africa (IMA).
