Tragic! Football star, Atsu, still not found after recent earthquake in Turkey. Death toll rises to 11,200

Christian Atsu

On Wednesday, the coach of Turkish club Hatayspor, Christian Atsu’s team, reported that the Ghanaian midfielder has not yet been found, despite earlier announcements from Ghana’s Football Association (GFA) stating otherwise.

The GFA had reported that Atsu had been rescued from the rubble of a collapsed building and was receiving treatment after the earthquake that struck the area. However, Volkan Demirel, the coach, confirmed that they have not yet found him. Atsu’s image agent, Gaynor Frascione, expressed concern for her client, stating that they are trying to locate which medical center he could be in, but the situation is chaotic.

Atsu has played for several teams, including Chelsea and Newcastle, and has won 60 caps for Ghana’s national team. The latest estimate for the death toll from the earthquake is over 11,200, and dozens of nations have offered aid, but the freezing weather is hindering emergency efforts.
