Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) suffered a major setback on Sunday when they were defeated 3-1 by Lens in a closely contested match. This marked the first time that PSG had lost in any competition since March 20 of last year, a period of more than nine months. The loss was all the more surprising given that PSG were without two of their star players, World Cup winner Lionel Messi and Brazilian player Neymar, both of whom were absent due to various circumstances. Despite their absence, PSG coach Christophe Galtier was quick to emphasize that the team’s performance should not be excused by the absence of these key players.
